Dhaka Gate — The Historical Mughal Construction in Dhaka
The Dhaka Gate is also recognized as the Ramna Gate or Mir Jumla’s Gate. This is a monument and believed that it was built by the Mughal Emperor Mir Jumla II. It’s one of the enlisted ancient Mughal constructions in Dhaka. The Dhaka Gate is considered as the basic parts of Dhaka’s history. According to the belief of some researchers, Dhaka was going to be larger at the period of Aurangazeb, one of the best Mughal Emperors. Mir Jumla made the gate at the north of Dhaka near the northern border of the city. It was a remarkable Mughal architecture in Dhaka that was used as the entrance of the city after reaching on the bank of River Buriganga. Most probably, the gate is used to protect the city from the attacks of the northern Magh (present Myanmar) pirates.
